Hamody Hindi
Jazz Guitar that Swings!
Hamody (huMOEdee) Hindi is a Portland, Oregon based guitarist who specializes in swing and latin jazz. He performs regularly with several fine groups such as the Lone Fir Hot Club, the Newport Nightengales and chanteuse Courtney Freed. Musical influences include Joe Pass, Django Reinhardt, and Wes Montgomery.
Hamody started playing guitar at age 10 in Cookeville, TN. In high school, the guitar found some competition with the classical music world via the tuba. While studying classical music at U.C. Berkeley, Hamody was converted to jazz by Joe Pass and hasn’t looked back since!
After spending some time in the Bay Area focused on bebop, Hamody moved to the Portland area in 2008. He quickly assimilated to the vibrant swing jazz scene. He has been serving up smiles through the magic of swing ever since!
